Rowan
Welcome to Rowan Class
Happy New Year!
We hope that you had a wonderful break and are ready for 2025!
It has been wonderful to welcome your children back into Rowan class and we are very proud of the attitude and behaviours they have shown. This term we will continue to follow our school rules of being ready, respectful and safe and we are also emphasising our new school values of achievement, resilience and kindness. We see examples of each of these daily – keep it up Rowan!
We will continue to have PE on Wednesdays and Friday and those children in Year 5 will be going swimming each Wednesday so swimming kits in then please.
In maths we are learning about multiplication and division and daily spend time on TTRS – please keep encouraging your child to practice at home. As I often say to the children, practice makes progress. It has been incredible to see the progress made throughout the Autumn Term and I know this will continue as we move into this term too.
In English we are writing a diary entry based on Tutankhamun. We will continue to work on spelling, punctuation and grammar to make our writing not only interesting but also technically accurate.
In science we are exploring sound, in RE we are learning about Hinduism and why Hindus want to collect good karma. Our music lessons will include us all (myself included) learning how to play the ukelele!! Watch this space! In our weekly PSHE lessons our focus is on Diversity and Communities, thinking about our identities and the diversity we see in our class, school and wider community.
Listening to your child read at home, as well as reading with them, discussing the text continues to be really important to help them make progress and promote a love of reading.
Thank you for your continued help, please do get in touch via the office or Dojo with any questions you may have,
Mrs Beck and Miss Atashkar
